Hi,
my son (9)was diagnosed with type one diabetes 5years ago.
due to double standards and lack of proper care for my son at now his forth school in the same time period I'm find myself being left out of the loop.
I even had children's social care come down on me very hard because I started home teaching for him.
All the professionals seem to help each other rather than my son.
I have had an open mind with all 4 schools only to find out later that they don't practice what they priech.
There seems alot of unaccountability on behave of these so called professionals.
my battle with these people has been extremely difficult and upsetting.
As a single farther of 3 sons I receive discrimination just for being a man.
I've had serious issues with every single professional my son and I have come into contact with !
The affect this has had on my son ,his brothers and me is totally unnecessary and unfair let alone the risk my son is at.
As regards my control of my sons condition is in the top 5% of all his medical peer group even with the lack of care from so called professionals.
In the 3 months that my son was being home teached by me I got his average blood levels below 7% with less hopos compared to 8% while going to school with more hopos.
Just my son being at school makes my job harder and the risk levels more so for him.
As a single parent with bad physical health and incognitive problems think I do a very good job control my sons diabetes but yet I'm being criticized while the professionals refuse to be accountable.
It seems they all what me to shut up and let them put my sons life at risk.
I look forward to your response

Regards

Hello,

My sister has a daughter of 3 years old , diagnosed with diabets. I am interested in 2 questions for her:

1. if there is any association to register with, in order to be informed with everything is developing in the diabets.
2. she is giving insulin with injection to her daughter. She would like to use the pump, but her doctor advised her to avoid the pumps. Still , she wants and therefore she is asking for an another opinion, if is it suitable the pump insulin for her daughter.

I would really appreciate your answers
Thank you very much,
ALice Cobeanu

We attended the CWD conference last year in Windsor. We took home a carb counter which had a built in programme and gave a suggested amount of insulin to take based on your current blood sugar reading, amount of carbs you were planning on eating and amount of exercise. My daughter has found the calculator really useful and accurate but unfornately the name has rubbed off does anyone know the brand. They were being handed out in the main entrance on the right hand side as you went into the conference venue.

Fun to Learn Nursery and Preschool, Newport, Isle of Wight have been absolutely fabulous with regards to my son.

They have learnt to test him and they bolus him with his pump, and deal with any hiccups that may occur with no fuss or panic!! They didn't flinch when I asked them to learn to bolus him and have taken it all on brilliantly.

I can't praise them enough!!!
