Hello
We have a child at our school who has type 1 diabetes and sometimes he acts as if he is drunk, shouting very loudly and slurring his words. What should we do in this situation? At present his parents are fetched and he goes home. Also he wants to start a support group in school so have you any suggestions.

my son has just been diagnosed as being diabetic, he is 12 years old. i went to visit the school and went through his care plan with the school nurse who ensured that she would be available to care for him from 10.00 am until 2.00pm everyday except friday, when she was on a rest day, but there was a first aider to care for my son if there was a problem. i felt comfortable with this, until on his third day back at schoool, he had a hypo, and was very scared, the school receptionist rang me, asking what she needed to do, i was mortified, as i had put my trust in the school and the fact they were capeable of careing for my son, but they were obviously telling me what i needed to hear on my initial visit. My son informed me that the school nurse was only in school for 3 days per week. it is my sons health at stake here. what can i do.
